.: A Time for Positive Change

It is time at last for a new voice in Washington representing the Hudson Valley. For too long, the political process in Washington has been hijacked by insiders and career politicians who constantly put their own careers and selfish interests ahead of what really counts to hardworking people in the Hudson Valley.

The problems in Washington have infested both parties. Political elites want us to ignore that corruption and waste have become the norm and disregard the fact that our elected leaders have betrayed the voters who elected them. On one issue after another, politics seems to trump results.

It is time to reject Washington’s divisive politics as usual. It is time at last to reverse course, and in November, the Hudson Valley will have the opportunity to do just that and bring real change to Washington.

That’s why I began Democrats for Lalor, and why I am asking you to support Kieran’s fantastic Congressional campaign.

Lalor picks up local support for campaign

Town of Wappinger Clerk Chris Masterson, a Democrat, has endorsed Republican Kieran Michael Lalor for his run for the 19th Congressional District.

Lalor announced this week the launch of Democrats for Lalor. The Peekskill resident and Republican George Oros, of Cortlandt, are running for the seat held by Rep. John Hall, D-Dover.

"Kieran represents a new generation of selfless leaders. If you want to change Washington, you have to change the type of people you send there," Masterson said.

Masterson said he served with Lalor in the Marine Corps.

Lalor said, "I'm determined to reach out to Democrats who share the same hopes for America."

Lalor Endorsed by Top Wappinger Democrat, Starts Democrats for Lalor

East Fishkill, NY/May 8, 2008 – Kieran Michael Lalor is pleased to announce the launch of Democrats for Lalor. Chris Masterson, town clerk of the Town of Wappinger, and the highest-ranking elected Democrat in Wappinger, has endorsed Lalor and will be organizing the Democrats for Lalor coalition.

“Kieran represents a new generation of selfless leaders. If you want to change Washington, you have to change the type of people you send there,” said Masterson. “Kieran has the dedicated spirit we need in our leaders. After Hurricane Katrina, Kieran and two Marine buddies drove to New Orleans and volunteered for search-and-rescue operations. While they were pulling people out of the water, Washington politicians pointed fingers.”

Masterson finished, “Serving with Kieran in the Marine Corps, I was fortunate to see his outstanding leadership capabilities, his determination, and his boundless optimism.”

“I’m honored by Chris’ endorsement,” said Lalor. “I’m determined to reach out to Democrats who share the same hopes for America. We both want the best for the Hudson Valley, and I’m convinced that together we can restore responsible leadership to Washington.”

“Chris is a rising star among Dutchess Democrats and his support reflects our campaign’s cross-party appeal,” Lalor added.

Lalor joked, “Chris was a sergeant and I was a corporal, so he’s given me an order to win this campaign.”

Lalor has already received the endorsement of the FDNY Uniformed Fire Officer’s Association and the National NYPD 10-13. Both endorsements represent an unusual cross-party appeal to union members who traditionally vote Democratic.

Masterson was re-elected for a second term in November 2007. He served as the treasurer of Joe Ruggiero’s 2007 campaign for Dutchess County Executive.

People, not Politics: A Time for Reform

      There is too much at stake for our community. We need a reformer.  We need real change, not empty, big promises. We need someone who understands what it means to work hard to raise a family in the Hudson Valley and recognizes that representing the Hudson Valley in Congress is a full-time job. 

      We need Kieran Lalor.  He is the right candidate at the right time. 

Restoring the Hudson Valley’s Voice in Washington

      Kieran recognizes that issues like health care, energy independence, and tax reform demand new thinking and an end to political gamesmanship.   Kieran and his family have been on the front lines of tough problems as hardworking citizens, as parents, and as educators.   Kieran is also a Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq war.
